Daisy is such a sweet lady and, until recently, she has been living the good life for the past four years with a family who just adored her. Unfortunately, once the youngest member of the family became a toddler, Daisy became very stressed. She is a gorgeous, purebred basset hound and early on she had a pretty rough time. By the time she was four years old she had already had multiple litters of puppies, she was abandoned, and she was heartworm positive. She completed her in-patient treatment for heartworms and did really well. It is critical that she be kept on a year-round heartworm preventative to insure her health.
Daisy is quite a character. She loves to be the center of human attention. If she’s getting her people time, she will curl her lip and low growl if another dog tries to butt in on her ‘me time.' She will also bark at you when she’s happy to see you and she thinks you’re ignoring her. Not spoiled much, huh? Daisy is very ready to find a family of her very own so she doesn’t have to share all the attention with her foster siblings!
Daisy does have some special dietary needs. She has a history of digestive issues and does best on a vegan formula of food. Natural Balance does have a specific vegan food. She has also had a history of reflux and gagging and she needs to have a single omeprazole tablet each evening after dinner. We want any adopter to be aware of this need so Daisy's health will not be compromised.
If you think Daisy might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online.
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have 10 or more applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Daisy picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
