Abby is just adorable and she’s been through a lot of changes recently in her life.  Her original owner had severe health issues and could no longer keep her.  Then she went to live with another family and she just did not do well with the other dogs in the family, so she couldn’t stay there.  She came to AAMR and she is mostly a sweet, happy, funny little girl.

We're not sure of her breed mix.  We think we see Westie and something smaller ... maybe Maltese or poodle.  She has the cutest little faint black spots all over that snowy white coat!

Abby does have a few quirky behaviors that any potential family needs to be aware of!

1) She does not like other dogs ‘in her face’ … and she is not shy about telling them to go away.  For this reason, she will really be best as an only dog … or with a family willing to mediate and work with this behavior.

2) She does not like to be picked up or held too tightly.  She acts like it hurts her and she will give a defensive nip (although so far she has not actually bit anyone).  She will run like the wind and jump on your lap and on furniture … all with no indication of pain, so it seems to be more of a defensive behavior, possibly from past pain.

3) A bit of a drama queen … she will jump and scream like she thinks she is being killed when she needs to get a shot.

Certainly these quirks do not make her unattractive or unadoptable.  Adopters just need to be aware of these personality traits and be willing to work with them.  She is absolutely a lovely little girl who deserves a family to love her.

If you think Abby might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Abby picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.

Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
