Hi … my name is Penny and here are some things you need to know about me! After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.
Approximate age/birthdate: born ~2015
Weight/size: 11 lbs (needs to gain a little … should be around 13-15 lbs)
Housebroken: YES as long as you do your part and take her out often
Crate trained: YES
Personality: a little shy at first, sweet, wiggly, vocal
Energy level: High (with hints of medium)
Fenced yard required?: YES … dachshunds are busy explorers by nature so having a safe area to explore is like heaven to them!
Does he/she jump fences? NO but be aware that dachshunds are ferocious diggers (and escape artists)
Leash walk with manners: YES … getting there … she just wants to go fast everywhere
Obedience training: NO but she does learn quickly … especially when treats are involved
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Microchipped: YES
Social with other dogs: YES
Social with cats: She would probably think chasing a cat would be fun … catching it might be another story.
Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. She might be overwhelmed by all the noise and activity levels of younger children.
Adoption donation: $175
What a cutie Penny is. We don’t have a lot of history but know that she and two others came into doggy jail and they were semi-feral … not at all accustomed to human contact. None were mean … just terrified of people. She has learned that at least the humans she is dealing with now are pretty much OK. She has even learned to cuddle and snuggle a little bit and seems to like it! What she really loves is food and treats! She is gaining a little weight and looking better these days.
Penny has some unusual scars on her head and face and we have no idea what might have happened to her. Some of the guesses have included having a muzzle left on for too long and it cutting into her face and possibly getting cut by wire. Doesn’t appear to have had any stitches or care but has healed and we think it just makes her more mysterious and unique! No scars can hide all this cuteness.
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Penny picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
