Hi … my name is Charlie and here are some things you need to know about me! After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.
Sweet Charlie, according to his previous mom, is ‘a prince of a dog.’ Unfortunately, Charlie would not learn to be nice to the cat who lived in the home. The kitty was a long-time resident, so it was decided that rehoming Charlie would be the best for him and for the kitty. His mom was very sad, but wants the best for him. In foster care, Charlie has not been with cats, but he has been with various sizes and breeds of dogs and has been using his manners. He does play a bit rough for very small dogs, but he has absolutely no intent to hurt them … he just gets so excited when playing. He is such a smart boy and so eager to learn. The ‘ideal family’ for Charlie would be active (willing to play fetch a lot with him) and would have a fenced yard for him to safely play in! Could that be your family???
Approximate age/birthdate: DOB 1-17-2015
Weight/size: 15 lbs
Housebroken: YES
Crate trained: YES
Personality: playful, happy, smart, loving, wary of strangers and takes a bit to warm up
Energy level: medium with bursts of high (loves to play fetch)
Fenced yard required?: Definitely preferred so he has a place to run off energy, play safely, and explore
Does he/she jump fences? NO
Leash walk with manners: YES
Obedience training: Knows ‘sit,’ ‘come,’ and ‘wait’
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Microchipped: YES
Social with other dogs: YES … when properly introduced. He plays rough and not all dogs respond well to him. He is learning to ‘be easy.’
Social with cats: He will relentlessly chase cats and not sure what he would do if he caught one, so probably better with no cats.
Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. Terriers, by their breed, can be a bit excitable and ‘nippy’ so may not be best with younger children.
Adoption donation: $175
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Charlie picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
