About Staci (now Emmy Lou)

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn with White

Hi … my name is Staci and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.

Sweet Staci is one of a group of 5 pups looking a lot like labradoodles found wandering in the Forest, VA area!  They were running free in a high-traffic area and some concerned Good Samaritans rounded them up and called Animal Control to get them to keep them out of harm's way.  They waited out their time in ‘doggy jail’ but no one ever came to claim them so now they can find new, loving homes.

Some of the pups in the group, Staci being one of them, seemed to have some weakness in the back legs.  The opinion of our vet is that Staci may have been forced to spend too much time in a crate that was too small for her during her growth and developmental stages, not allowing her rear legs to be exercised properly so her muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc. were underdeveloped.  Since being in foster care she has been given lots of exercise time outside and she has gone to water therapy sessions at Riverside Veterinary Hospital, and she is doing great!  She does not appear to be in any pain although she may develop arthritis at an earlier age, and her back legs have gotten much stronger.  She is such an amazing, resilient, sweet girl!

Could this stunning labradoodle girl be the perfect addition to your family?

Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~April 2018

Weight/size:  45 lbs

Housebroken:  YES … as long as you do your part and take her out often

Crate trained:  YES

Personality:  a little shy at first, happy, sweet, playful

Energy level:  medium with bursts of high

Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred.  She has a history of being a ‘runner’ … a ‘free spirit’ so she should never be off-leash outside a fenced area.  She loves to ramble and explore so a fenced yard would be perfect.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  Learning … and getting better each day.

Obedience training:  No, but she would probably enjoy going to an obedience class with her new family

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK … sometimes she sings while she rides

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES  She is still young and plays a little rough sometimes (she doesn’t know how strong she is)

Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster care, but we’re sure she would try to interact with them!

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  Her energy and activity level would be overwhelming for younger children.

Adoption donation:  $250

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Staci picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.

Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
