Barney is just too cute.  He sort of looks like a little pint size tank as he struts around exploring the world.  He has the sweetest disposition, the cutest little face, and he loves life and being loved.  He grew up only knowing love and he is so very ready to find his new forever home and let the joy begin again.

Housebroken:  YES

Crate trained:  YES

Personality: happy, loving, sweet

Energy level:  medium

Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred because he loves to get outside to explore the world.  He must never be allowed outside off-leash or even unsupervised in a fenced yard.  Remember he is small enough to be scooped up by a hawk or other birds of prey.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  Learning … he still gets excited sometimes and pulls a little … but, hey, he’s 8 lbs

Obedience training:  No … but he does listen pretty well

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK     

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES … he avoids the larger dogs and interacts with friendly, social smaller dogs.  He will step in if he thinks another pup is trying to hurt one of his friends.

Social with cats:  He grew up with a cat, so we think he would probably be OK

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  He will not enjoy being dragged around by youngsters.

Adoption donation: $175

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Barney picks you too.
