About Bentley (now named Moose)

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black

Hi … my name is Bentley and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.

Oh Mr. Bentley Doodle!  This handsome boy is the sweetest hot mess you will ever meet.  If you’re looking for a pup who wants to be in your pocket or at least touching you all the time, this is your guy.  He LOVES, LOVES, LOVES being near his people and has some separation anxiety when he can’t be close to them.  When he gets anxious (like when he is left alone), he will pace and bark ... and bark ... and bark.  For this reason, he will probably not be a good apartment/townhome/duplex dweller.  His anxiety may get the entire family evicted! We think having a calm, confident doggy friend with him may be helpful for times when all the people are gone.  We don’t know if he has ever had other doggy playmates, but he seems to enjoy his foster friends.  He seems to like most other dogs, and he runs and romps like a puppy, but his play skills are still a bit rough.  He would need to be supervised with smaller dogs, and would need tolerant bigger dogs who would correct his lack of social skills appropriately and non-aggressively.

Oh and did we mention that he is part pig.  He loves to eat … and counter surf … and steal YOUR food if you turn your back.  Again … a little lacking in the social skills and manners department, but he takes correction and positive reinforcement well.  He is tall enough that he does require a raised feeder.  He is not a fast eater, but seems to keep his food down better with the raised feeder.

Approximate age/birthdate:  Jan 13, 2013

Weight/size:  ~50 lbs

Housebroken:  YES

Crate trained:  YES.  He will sleep quietly in the crate at night, but he does not like to be able to see any lights on anywhere in the house.  If he sees a light on, he will talk about it until you shut it off.

Personality: friendly, needy (wants to be close), adventurous

Energy level:  medium … he does settle nicely in the house

Fenced yard required?:   YES

Does he/she jump fences?  NO … but he probably could if he wanted to

Leash walk with manners:  YES … and he gets really excited when he sees you pick up a leash

Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’ and responds well to positive reinforcement training

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES

Social with cats: Curious about cats.  He would chase if they run, but not sure if he would harm them or not.

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  His size and energy may be too much for younger, smaller children

Adoption donation:  $200

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Bentley picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.

Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
