Hi … my name is Chico! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.
If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online.
Chico is a little boy with a big personality! In his first year of life he was bounced around to a few places, landing at All-American Mutt Rescue, and now we hope he will only have one more ‘bounce’ … to his happily-ever-after! Chico is a deer chihuahua based on his head shape and long legs. He adores people. He does well when properly introduced to small dogs, but he is a bit uneasy around larger dogs. With time, he would probably be ok with a laid back, patient, non-alpha pup that is willing to put up with some chihuahua attitude.
Approximate age/birthdate: Feb 5 2023
Weight/size: 11 lbs
Housebroken: Working on it … he does great as long as you do your part and take him out often. Little dog, little bladder!
Crate trained: YES He will stay in his crate without a lot of protest but prefers curling up in a chair
Personality: sweet, loving, curious, and loves to be spoiled
Energy level: very calm for a youngster
Fenced yard required?: Definitely preferred so he has a safe place to wander and explore off-leash
Does he/she jump fences? NO
Leash walk with manners: YES
Obedience training: No, but he is very smart and listens well (when he wants to)
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Microchipped: YES
Social with other dogs: Does well with most small dogs; nervous around larger dogs
Social with cats: Intimidated by cats but would probably make friends with a cat over time.
Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. The noise and activity of toddlers and young children would be too much for him and he might get nippy.
Adoption donation: $250
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Chico picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
