Hi … my name is Joe and here are some things you need to know about me:

Housebroken:  YES

Crate trained:  YES

Personality:  sweet, happy, loving life

Energy level:  low – he is a sweet old man

Fenced yard required?:   YES – Joe is hearing impaired so won’t hear you calling him.  He needs boundaries.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk:  YES – short walks

Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’

Riding in vehicles:  likes to ride

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES

Social with cats: ignores the cats

Good with children: seems to be OK with children but he is definitely NOT a playmate for them

Joe was picked up as a stray and brought to an area facility where he had to stay for 7 days waiting for an owner to reclaim him.  No one ever came for this sweet boy, so AAMR got him as soon as he was available.  He is the most happy-go-lucky boy ever and he wants to be sure he is WITH you all the time.  If he can’t see you, he isn’t happy.  You seldom have to worry about where he is because it is usually right by your feet.  He does seem to have a high degree of hearing impairment so it puts 100% of the responsibility on his family to keep him out of harms way.  He will not hear a vehicle coming toward him; he will not hear another dog growling at him; he will not hear anyone calling him if he wanders away.  He must have a fenced yard to keep him safe and he should never be outside the fenced yard off-leash.

Joe has been neutered and had a full dental and is updated on vaccines.  Do you think this boy might just be the perfect addition to your family?

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Joe picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
