Hi … my name is Sparky and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.

Whoever named Sparky got it absolutely right!  He is a big spark of energy wrapped in a small, furry package.  This boy is so cute and so much fun to be around … unless you’re looking for a sedate little lap dog.  Yes, he does love to get in your lap, but, no, he cannot be still for long unless he is sleeping.  Of course, he is still young, and he has a lot of exploring and playing to do.  There is not a ‘bad’ bone in this sweet boy’s body, just busy ones.  He will melt your heart when you call him and he looks at you and runs to you like you are the greatest love of his life!

Do you need a busy little clown in your life?  Sparky could be your boy!

Approximate age/birthdate: ~April 2018

Weight/size: 12 lbs

Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take him out often.  He is also recently neutered and when he gets excited, he will still try to ‘mark’.  This behavior should diminish over time.

Crate trained:  YES         

Personality:  busy, happy, curious, loving, sweet, wiggly  

Energy level:  medium/high … he can be such a busy boy

Fenced yard required?:   YES.  He has so much energy and he needs to be able to get outside and run it off.  Not sure many people have the time or energy to walk him enough to tire him.  Sparky must never be outside a fenced area without being on a leash.  He is so fast, no one would ever catch him!

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  YES and NO … yes, he has leash manners and yes, he forgets all of them when he gets in a hurry and excited

Obedience training:  No but he is very smart and will learn quickly.  The structure of an obedience class would probably be great for him.

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK     

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES – he is very social, but his activity level is not appreciated by some.  He will take correction from the older, more settled dogs.  He will also defend himself if younger, active dogs try to dominate him.

Social with cats:  Has not been around cats in foster home, but we know he would chase anything that runs.  Not sure he would ‘mean’ to hurt them but he does play rough sometimes

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  His energy would be a lot for younger children to handle … and he would steal their toys.

Adoption donation: $175

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Sparky picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
