This handsome dachshund boy is a gem.  He is handsome.  He is sweet.  He is happy.  He is doxie stubborn. He is curious.  And he has lots of love to give to his new forever family.  His foster family has really been enjoying his antics and love that he meets new people really well.  He does well with most other dogs, but he can be a little vocal when meeting other larger dogs.  So far he has played well with other small dogs, but in typical dachshund style, he’s a bit on the rough-and-tumble side.  And he gives really sweet kisses.

Approximate age/birthdate:  June 5, 2017 

Weight/size:  ~15 pounds

Housebroken:  YES  (he is newly neutered, so he still has a tendency to ‘mark’ territory)

Crate trained:  YES

Personality:  sweet, curious, happy-go-lucky, can be busy

Energy level:  medium (with some bursts of high)

Fenced yard required?:   Preferred.  He is curious and loves to get outside and explore.  He can never be outside unsupervised because he is small enough that birds of prey could snatch him up.  And he should never be in an unfenced area off-leash.  He is a hound and his nose will take him places he should not go!

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  YES

Obedience training:  NO

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK     

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES

Social with cats:  Would definitely chase cats but we are not sure if he would try to harm them.

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.

Adoption donation:   $175

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Maverick picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
