Hi … my name is Rainey and here are some things you need to know about me! After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.
Sweet Rainey is a Super Senior who came to AAMR when a Good Samaritan found him early one morning sitting in the middle of a rural road in the pouring rain. He didn’t move as the car approached and lucky for him, the man had a huge heart. He then brought the soaking wet Rainey to a friend’s house and asked if they could help find his owner. No one ever checked the local animal control facilities looking for him. No one ever checked around the neighborhood looking for him. No one ever posted any flyers or posted on social media … so now Rainey is looking for a new family who will give him lots of love and a soft bed to sleep in. He’s a sweetie and really easy to get along with.
Due to age, Rainey does not see or hear well, so he should never be let outside off-leash. It would be a shame for him to get lost again! He also has a heart murmur and will probably need to start on heart medications in the future. He also has lots of tooth tartar and since he is not a good candidate to go under anesthesia for a dental, he gets an enzyme product on his teeth daily to try to help destroy some of the plaque build up.
Can you be his hero and give him a safe home, a soft bed, and plenty of love and care for the rest of his life?
NOTE: Seniors are special. If you do not want to adopt a senior, you can still help by sponsoring his extended care with tax-deductible donations. A one-time donation, or monthly or quarterly donations designated for Rainey's care will be appreciated.
Approximate age/birthdate: born ~2009 (yes … I am a super senior)
Weight/size: 9 lbs
Housebroken: YES (as long as you do your part and take him out often)
Crate trained: YES (although he prefers finding a rug or a small dog bed in a corner to sleep on). If crated too long, he will express his unhappiness.
Personality: quiet, laid back, a sweet senior boy
Energy level: low
Fenced yard required?: Always preferred. Rainey will be fine being leash walked but should never be outside a fenced area off-leash.
Does he/she jump fences? NO
Leash walk with manners: YES
Obedience training: NO
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Microchipped: YES
Social with other dogs: YES … he doesn’t play, but he has no issues with other dogs
Social with cats: Ignores them
Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. His ideal home will be calm and settled.
Adoption donation: $75
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Rainey picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
