March 24, 2021, sweet Tyler got a new Mom, a new home and a new name ... he is now Micah! Happy Life sweet boy!
Hi … my name is Tyler! Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me. If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online.
Is this guy cute or what? We’re not sure of his breed mix – maybe some spaniel – but we do know he is very handsome! He can be a little shy and stand-offish at first, but once he knows he can trust you, he warms up pretty quickly. And if he REALLY likes you, he becomes like your shadow … a shadow that wants you to be in his sight all the time. He seems to have some mild separation anxiety.
We don’t know much about his background, just that he ended up in a public shelter after his person passed away. When he came into foster care, he adapted pretty quickly, although he was NOT thrilled about going into a crate. After a couple of days, he had learned that going into the crate was not an awful thing because there was usually food or treats and toys involved. He is not good with bedding in the crate with him because if he gets mad and wants out, he will shred fabric.
Tyler will need a fenced yard (physical fence, not underground/electronic) because he would tend to wander if something that looked like fun caught his attention! His outside time should be limited to a fenced area or on-leash. He sometimes has a tendency to get a little ‘loud’ when he needs to talk to his people, so he will probably not be a good apartment/townhouse dweller. His indoor voice is not very quiet. But his ability to snuggle and give great kisses makes up for these ‘minor’ issues.
Approximate age/birthdate: Nov 2016
Weight/size: 23 lbs
Housebroken: YES (he tried to mark inside when he first came in foster care, but is getting better every day)
Crate trained: YES (he will protest if he is crated and can still see you, but he does get quiet)
Personality: very curious and attentive to everything, wants to be near people, fun, happy, very smart
Energy level: medium – high, very excitable (in a happy, bouncy way)
Fenced yard required?: YES, physical fence (no underground/electronic fencing)
Does he/she jump fences? NO
Leash walk with manners: YES, but he will still pull if he gets distracted and wants to go exploring
Obedience training: Knows ‘sit’ and will ‘dance’ for treats
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Microchipped: YES
Social with other dogs: YES unless they want to get in his face, and then he wants them to back off
Social with cats: Curious about cats and would absolutely chase them. Probably better with NO cats.
Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. He would not be happy with lots of noise, activity and rough housing.
Adoption donation: $175
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Tyler picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
