Some of the best words to describe Amelia are sweet, sensitive, intelligent, loving, happy … and don’t forget beautiful! Her chocolate and silver coat is stunning. True to her breed, she is definitely people-oriented (especially loves female people) and she is almost always ready for snuggles.  She enjoys interaction with other small dogs, and having another small, friendly dog in the home may help make her adjustment easier. She did grow up in a multi-dog home. Amelia can be a bit subdued when first meeting new people, but once she trusts and loves you, she’s yours forever.

Housebroken:  YES (as long as you do your part and take her out regularly)

Crate trained:  YES

Personality:  sweet, laid back, smart, loves her people

Energy level:  medium

Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred for her safety.  She enjoys going outside and must be on a harness and leash at all times if not inside a securely fenced area … and playing and exploring is more fun in a fenced yard!

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  She is learning and getting better.  

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK   

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES. She was raised in a home with several dogs similar in size to her.

Social with cats:  Has not been around cats in foster care, but she would most likely be curious about them.

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Amelia picks you too.
