About Max

  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with Tan, Yellow or Fawn

Here are some very important things you need to know about Max

MAX AND HOWIE HAD A GREAT VALENTINE'S DAY BECAUSE THEY WERE ADOPTED BY DAVE AND SUZAN BRYAN!

Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~mid- late-2010

Weight/size:  10 lbs

Housebroken:  paper trained and is doing well with learning to go outside on leash

Crate trained:  YES – but will still go potty in crate if left too long

Personality:  sweet and loving once he trusts you, but he is very wary of new situations

Energy level:  medium

Fenced yard required?:   YES – Even the little guys need a place that they can run and play safely off-leash and they can outrun most of us!  He loves to pick up sticks and leaves and chase a ball

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk:  YES

Obedience training:  Doesn’t seem to have had any but would definitely benefit from the bonding and the socialization of going to an organized obedience training class.  He is a very smart little guy and learns quickly.

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES

Social with cats:  YES – he has a great time woofing at the cats trying to get them to play with him

Good with children:  Older children only because he has the potential to be a fear biter if cornered and most children do not understand when it’s time to walk away and give the little dog some space.

Adoption fee: $175

Max is definitely a yorkie – possibly mixed with something else.  Max is an absolutely wonderful little guy but it seems that things have happened in the past that make him feel insecure when meeting new people. Our guess is he may have come out of a backyard breeding situation and was dropped at the pound.  Our goal is to find a family for Max who will show patience and positive guidance with his insecurities.  So far in foster care he has made huge strides adjusting to new situations, and he needs to have a strong, confident, secure owner who will continue to work with him to overcome his insecurities and make new people and new places a positive adventure for him.

If you think Max might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online.

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have 10 or more applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Max picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.

Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com or call 434 841 0411 or 540 297 1590 if you have additional questions.
